history
Since the foundation of this college in 1994 Abbey College Cambridge has become one of the best sixth form colleges for international students in the UK. At Abbey College Cambridge, they have developed and maintained an outstanding record of academic success. Their students’ exceptional A Level pass rates mean that they have been consistently placed at the top of college league tables since 1997. This college community has grown significantly during this time and they now have 400 students from over 40 countries who are taught and supported by more than 100 members of staff.
During this growth their educational ethos has remained very clear: outstanding achievement for all. Their educational offering has changed since 1994, from being initially designed for A Level retaking students to now being a GCSE, Foundation and A Level college specializing in meeting the needs of international students. In July 2016 this college undertook a new stage in their development by moving to a single site, purpose built campus. Their new college campus has been designed by the staff of Abbey College Cambridge to perfectly fit the needs of our students. They celebrated their 25th anniversary in November 2019 with food from around the world, a student and staff led concert, and a spectacular firework display. Abbey College Cambridge is a constituent college of the Abbey DLD Group of Colleges, which is in turn part of the Alpha Plus Group.

The Careers program at Abbey Cambridge offers a high-quality, impartial and up-to-date program of information and guidance, including:
- Speakers (ranging from professionals to former students) are invited to the College.
- Attendance at careers fairs and conferences,
Organization of variety of Careers-related activities themselves from their staff giving enrichment talks on careers in their specialist subject fields to hosting their annual UCAS Fair, where students use from Y11 onwards use Unifrog to look at careers opportunities and reflect on their own skills and aptitudes through the extensive personality tests available on the website. - Workshops on CV writing and interview techniques are provided, and through our exploration of work-related learning, students are helped to find work experience and placements at the end of Year 12 or take part in work shadowing activities provided by their partner InvestIN. This includes volunteering opportunities that students who participate in the Duke of Edinburgh pursue themselves to gain their silver or gold awards.
