history
Eerde international boarding school in Netherlands is historically enriched. It is situated in a beautiful castle in Ommen that was built in the 1715 and then turned to Eerde international boarding school in 1934 and in 2011 it was facilitated with high-tech. Between 1934 and 1943 it was housed by the Quaker School Eerde. Eerde castle was made available to the Dutch Quakers as a school and as a refuge for German and Jewish children persecuted by the Nazi regime. It was run as a boarding school until it had to be closed in 1943. After the Second World War, the reconstruction of the Quaker School Eerde began. The Quaker School in Eerde continued its work until 1958. One of the former headmasters returned and continued to expand an international school, from which today’s International School Eerde emerged.

Eerde School is a small school for big futures with only 85 students and class size of 10 to 15 students. This ensures a high quality and personalized education that focuses on the individuality of each student. It also offers various extracurricular activities and sports like Canoeing, swimming and horse riding. Eerde School focuses mainly on 4 aspects of students, namely academic, athletic, artistic, and ethic development. Generally, the school strives to shape students to be multi-dimensional, educated and capable people that make great contributions to the society and have numerous abilities and skills. The school offers a safe, heathy, respectful, and nurturing environment with outdoor and other educational activities.

Eerde’s campus located amongst the forest, fields, and streams of rural Overijssel which make it the perfect location for a variety of outdoor pursuits. Nature trails crisscross the landscape for miles all around Eerde Castle, offering students ample opportunity to hike, bike, and camp. At the heart of the castle students find a fully-equipped Library, art room, sport hall and Gym. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are in the cozy bistro in the castle basement where students, teachers and support staff all eat together.
The school building is located close to the boarding houses and castle. The special sloping design of the roof ensures that the modern building blends beautifully into its natural surroundings and the huge windows fill the building with natural light. All classrooms are equipped with both the traditional and contemporary learning resources.
In the professional kitchen, the school cook prepares nutritious homemade food with an international flavor, every day. As a boarding pupil you can take over the kitchen at the weekend to make your own ‘fusion’ brunch. The focus on healthy food and drink is part of Eerde international boarding school’s philosophy. It teaches students that education is not just about learning facts and figures. Attention to physical wellbeing, conscious choices on personal care and a balanced diet are just as important.
The school holds a room called The Orangery – Art Room. The Orangery dates from the late 19th century. With its beautiful south-facing glass facade it’s a delightful space to discover art. This is why the Orangery is now home to the school’s creative center, an inspirational environment where you can learn design, drawing, painting, and modelling. At Eerde a great deal of emphasis is placed on healthy bodies and healthy minds. The sports hall and gym in the castle grounds is available to students as part of the curriculum, and for boarding pupils in their free time. There are also plenty of opportunities for physical exercise in the castle’s natural surroundings.

Eerde School in Netherlands is an international school and its classes are offered in English; therefore, it is important for students to be competent in English. International applicants based on their level must have:

- International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT): 93
Students who do not meet the necessary requirements, are offered the opportunity to take part in English classes.

Eerde school in Netherlands offered classes in three levels; primary, middle and high school. The primary level is suitable for students between the ages of 4 and 11. The secondary school is aimed at students between the ages of 11 and 14. Finally, and the high school is divided into three sections. The International General Certificate of Secondary Education or IGCSE, which is suitable for students between the ages of 14-16; the International Baccalaureate Foundation Program, which is ideal for students between the ages of 15-17; and finally, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, which is suitable for students between the ages of 16-19.

Families with two students, are awarded a 5% discount on tuition fees and families with three or more students in the school can enjoy a 10% discount on tuition fees.

Students of the Eerde international boarding school in Netherlands have the option of attending the school in the form of day school or boarding school. Those who wish to be accommodated in the school, are required to pay an additional cost that may range from 22,850 to 42,750, depending on how many days a week they wish to stay in the dorms. Students also have the opportunity to find accommodation in the dorms for single nights. The cost of each night is 135 euros.
The students attending the boarding school, come from over 20 different countries, this makes it highly diverse. Therefor, students become familiar with different cultures and customs and consequently gain a worldly view of life.
All the staff and workers of the boarding school are chosen meticulously to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every single student. students are placed in atmosphere that enriches their culture and improves their abilities.
The rooms are divided based on age and gender in order to maximize the comfort of each student. It is notable that the school does not tolerate discrimination of any kind; therefore, students of different races, nationalities, religions or sexual orientations are treated equally. This teaches students to not only tolerate diversity, but also celebrate and embrace it. most of the rooms are suitable for two students, which enhances friendship and comfort.
However, students who prefer more private rooms, have the chance to take residence in single-bed rooms that cost more.
Students are required to organize and tidy their rooms regularly and do chores; this teaches them the proper ways of maintaining a home, which will be very handy when they want to live independently. Additionally, all of the rooms are equipped with high quality appliances and washing machines and dryers. Also, the school offers regular doctor appointments to ensure the health of the students.
