history
Abbey College Manchester was founded in 1990 and is part of the Alpha Plus Group of independent schools and colleges. Since its foundation Abbey College Manchester has become one of the leading providers of independent education in Greater Manchester. They have developed and maintained an outstanding record of academic success, and have a strong reputation locally, nationally and globally for high quality teaching, very small class sizes and a strong tutor and welfare system.
In 2012 a major extension of the ground floor in the college was undertaken. This comprised a new state of the art ICT suite housing the latest hardware and software; a new reception center; meeting room and visitors’ waiting area. During the summer of 2017 another exciting project took place at the college. This involved significant expansion of the first and ground floors as well as the basement, to create a new study center, additional office space for operations staff and student services, and a new science laboratory. The new facilities were officially opened by Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester.
