history
Nankai University is a prestigious university located in Tianjin, China. It was founded in 1919 by the famous Chinese educator Zhang Boling, who believed that education was the key to China’s future development. Nankai University has a rich history of pioneering education in China. In the early years, the university offered a variety of programs, including liberal arts, science, engineering, and education. It was the first university in China to establish a business program, and it also played a key role in the development of modern Chinese mathematics. During World War II, Nankai University was forced to relocate to the southwest of China due to the Japanese invasion. However, the university continued to operate and even expanded its programs during this difficult time.
After the war, Nankai University moved back to Tianjin and continued to grow and develop. - Balitai Campus: This is the main campus of Nankai University, and it is located in the heart of Tianjin. The campus covers an area of over 4 million square meters and is home to 18 schools and colleges, including the School of Economics, the School of Law, and the College of Chemistry. Balitai Campus has a comprehensive range of facilities, including a library, sports center, student center, and a range of dining options.
- Jinnan Campus: This campus is located in the Jinnan District of Tianjin and is home to the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, the College of Life Sciences, and the College of Medicine. Jinnan Campus has state-of-the-art research facilities, including a biosafety level-3 laboratory, and is designed to be environmentally friendly, with features such as rainwater harvesting and solar power generation.

Language requirements for applying to Nankai University:
Applicants for Chinese-taught programs should have reached HSK Level5 with a score of no less than 210. Applicants for English-taught programs should have reached IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 85. Applicants who hold a degree from a university where classes are taught completely in English may submit a certificate provided by the university certifying that classes are taught in English.

Nankai University actively builds and develops a professional system that meets the demands of economic and social development and talent training in the 21st century. In the long-term, it has formed the features of equal emphasis on liberal arts and science, profound foundation, and highlighted application and innovation. At present, Nankai University has 16,372 undergraduates, 26 professional colleges, 92 undergraduate majors, of which 58 are humanities and social sciences majors and 34 are science, engineering and medicine majors, covering 10 disciplines, that is, philosophy, law, economics, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, and art.
Nankai University currently has 26 colleges (departments, institutes) and research centers with graduate enrollment qualifications, covering all the 13 disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, history, literature, education, mechanics, engineering, medicine, agriculture, management, military science and art. There are 11 first-level disciplines for master’s degree-granting, 27 disciplines for professional master’s degree-granting, 31 first-level disciplines for doctoral degree-granting, 1 second-level doctoral program not included in first-level disciplines and 28 post-doctoral research centers.

There are 7 Buildings in Balitai Campus under the management of the Reception Service Center, including Mingzhuyuan Hotel, Foreign Guesthouse, Yiyuan Hotel Building 2, 3, and 4, Nankai-Aichi Guesthouse and Jingyuan Hotel. There are 563 rooms with a total of 1072 beds, including 38 suites, 432 standard rooms, 34 single rooms, 40 twin rooms, 5 triple rooms, 14 king-size rooms.
- The Foreign Guesthouse was completed in 1982. As the first foreign-related hotel in our school, it contains 23 apartment-type rooms with separate kitchen and bathroom as well as a full set of office and living furniture, aggregating to 44 beds in various types. The Foreign Guesthouse mainly receives foreign experts and scholars.
- The Mingzhuyuan Hotel was completed in 1999 and redecorated according to the standards of four-star hotels in May 2009. It contains 5 suites, 77 standard rooms and 9 king size rooms, with a total of 168 beds. The Mingzhuyuan receives various meetings and important events.
- Aida Guesthouse was completed in 1998. It contains 3 suites, 90 standard rooms and 6 single rooms, with a total of 189 beds. Since Aichi University in Japan conducts Chinese language teaching in Nankai University every year, the guesthouse receives students from Aichi University and accommodation for foreign students and foreign exchange activities.
- The Yiyuan Hotel Building 2 was completed in December 1986 and renovated in 2013. It contains 109 standard rooms and 12 single rooms, with a total of 230 beds, which receives foreign students.
- The Yiyuan Hotel Building 3 was completed in December 1986 and renovated in 2013. It contains 3 suites, 12 standard rooms, 6 single rooms, 40 double rooms and 5 king-size rooms. It contains 124 beds of various types, which undertake meetings on campus and the accommodation for the guests home and abroad.
- The Yiyuan Hotel Building 4 was completed in September 1996 and renovated in April 2006. It contains 4 suites, 80 standard rooms, 5 triple rooms and 10 single rooms, aggregating to 189 beds in various types. The hotel receives foreign students, including various meetings of the school and accommodation for the guests coming to the school.
- The Jingyuan Hotel is located in Beicun residential area (the North Village) in Nankai University with a beautiful environment. It was completed in 1991 and renovated in 2012. It contains 64 standard rooms and 128 beds, which undertakes the accommodation for foreign students and foreign exchange activities.
after graduation
Advice of Nankai University on Guiding and Encouraging Graduates to Serve National Strategic Needs in Employment and Entrepreneurship has been issued to further improve graduates’ employment and entrepreneurship in serving national strategies. Nankai University Graduate Employment Guidebook deigned for graduates of 2021, covering employment services, contracting process, introduction to key employment policies and graduation dispatch procedures has been distributed to all the graduates.
354 graduates have been assisted to apply for the Tianjin job-seeking and entrepreneurship subsidy, and the fifth Job-seeking Encouragement Gold has been launched for graduates from ethnic minority groups, poor families and other groups with employment difficulties. 7 online seminars and job search skills training camps has been conducted online, with over 3,000 participants attending.
Personnel training classes of Internet, finance and other industries has been carried out through cooperation with enterprises, more than 300 participants receiving certificates of completion. 20 public courses on career and entrepreneurship have been organized and 30 career coaches were invited to open up online individual career counselling for students. Online publicity team for west grassroots employment policy has been set up to propagate grassroots employment examples and employment promotion policies, guiding graduates to develop a correct outlook on their career choices.
