history
John Cabot University was founded in 1972 in Rome, Italy. The name was chosen to honor Giovanni Caboto, a famous explorer from Italy that lived in the 15th century. When established first, what we now know as John Cabot university, was actually a part of a religious school. It started expanding, admitting more students and introducing new majors. Eventually, it became an independent university after almost 20 years in 1991.
When it first started, it only had programs like business and other related majors, however, through time it started adding programs like Art History, International Affairs and English Literature. It continued to add more and more programs and evolved into the accredited university that is currently known as John Cabot.

- Guarini Campus
Situated in Via della Lungara 233, the Guarini campus hosts the Aula Magna Regina auditorium as well as the Frohring Library, one of Italy’s most comprehensive English language libraries. The Guarini campus also hosts numerous study rooms, media production facilities, a meditation garden, as well as JCU administrative offices.
The Media Production Facilities, located on the Guarini Campus, support a wide range of audio and video production activities, from screenwriting through principal photography and onward to editing, visual effects, and musical composition. Students, faculty, and staff make use of Panasonic camcorders and Canon cameras, Tascam and Zoom audio recorders, and Rode microphones in order to create beautiful images and immersive soundscapes.
- Caroline Critelli Guarini Campus
The Caroline Critelli Guarini Campus, situated in Piazza Giuseppe Gioachino Belli 11, is the first property owned by John Cabot University and it hosts classrooms, administrative offices, and a classroom that can be used for physics and basic electrical engineering courses. It was named for Caroline Critelli Guarini (1900 – 2001), mother of the Hon. Frank J. Guarini, Chair Emeritus of the JCU Board of Trustees and generous benefactor of the University.
The Critelli Annex is an extension of the Caroline Critelli Guarini Campus. Accessible through a beautiful open-air corridor overlooking the Cardia Courtyard, it hosts classes, meeting rooms, offices, the Math Lab, and Writing Center.
- Frohring Campus
Campus is located in Lungotevere Raffaello Sanzio 12, on the banks of Rome’s famous Tiber River and a five-minute walk from Guarini. In addition to classrooms, the Campus houses offices such as Student Services and Immigration Services. It is also home to John Cabot University’s cafeteria, the Tiber Cafe, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers various meal plan options.
- Largo dei Fiorentini Studio Art Facilities
A short walk from the Guarini campus, John Cabot’s Studio Art Facilities are housed in a historic Roman palazzo at Largo dei Fiorentini. The Art and Design studios are fully equipped for the widest variety of artistic practices and experimentation. Facilities include a dark room, drawing and painting studios, a photography studio, a fresco studio and a MAC Lab equipped with the latest industry-standard software.

the university offers preparatory English courses in two different levels for those who do not meet the required minimum score. Those applicants are placed in the pre-sessional English classes based on their English language certification and its score.

John Cabot university does not offer a tremendously large number of programs, but they do have a good variety. The programs are offered in bachelor and master’s level and are offered in the form of full-time. the programs include, art history, psychology, business administration, political sciences, History, Humanistic Studies, International Affairs, International Business, Italian Studies, Communications, English Literature, Classical Studies, Economics and Finance, as well as Marketing. it also offers minor programs in fields like Art and Design, Creative Writing, Entrepreneurship, Gender Studies, Legal Studies, Mathematics and Philosophy as well as the ones mentioned above.
Scholarships offered at John Cabot University in Italy:
John Cabot university in Italy strives to create an environment in which, students with different cultures, situations and religions have the chance to benefit from a good academic education. As a result, it makes dure to offer scholarships, funds and financial aid to students who face issues and cannot afford the tuition fees so that they are not deprived of high-quality education just because of financial challenges. In fact, about 85 percent of the students who are currently studying at John Cabot university, have received some kind of scholarship or grant.
The university offers numerous scholarships based on different factors, financial troubles of students or their potentials and academic excellence. Students whose families do not have a sufficient yearly income, will receive a scholarship worth €4,000 per year provided that they can prove that they are in fact in need of this scholarship by submitting official financial documents, as well as documentation of the income. Needless to say, all the documents must be translated into English.
The university also offers various scholarships to students who have achieved academic success. Students with high potentials, extracurricular achievements and high academic grades can submit a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and their test scores in order to be awarded a scholarship worth €7,000 a year. What is more, students with the highest academic achievements in the university who have an average grade point of 3.5 will enter the dean’s list. Those students will be eligible for a scholarship worth €1,000 per semester.
In addition to al the scholarships, John Cabot university offers discounts as well. Family with more than one child studying in the university will be awarded a 20% discount on the tuition fee of one of the children. Also, those who have previously graduated from John Cabot university are offered a 20% discount on the tuition fees in case they wish to further their studies or send have their child admitted to this university.

John Cabot University offers students a wide range of residences. Students can choose their residence of interest based on their needs, budget and the level of privacy they want. The Gianicolo Residence and the Lungara Apartments cost around € 4,300 for each semester. Those who prefer a more private room can pay € 5,100 and reside in single rooms. Moreover, the Rastevere Apartments and the Neighborhood apartments cost € 3,600 per semester for students who do not mind sharing a room with roommates and € 4,400 for those who prefer single rooms. There also is an option, graduate studio apartments which costs € 7,400 for single or double use per semester.
All the residences are equipped with WIFI, air conditioning and heating systems. Furthermore, students can benefit from a regular cleaning service. The safety of the dorms and apartments are guaranteed; security guards are constantly present to make sure there are no problems or safety threats. Finally, all the residences are within walking distance from the university campus and close to a variety of amenities.

John Cabot University encourages students to take part in internships and part-time jobs in order to gain first-hand experience of the world and the job market and their intended industry. The university has strong connections with over 740 companies and can help students find suitable positions and internships that can help their future professional path; it can also help widen their network and consequently their vocational horizon. Students who meet the requirements, can send in an application and the university helps them find a part-time internship in the field that they desire.
Furthermore, john Cabot University students or graduates who have a GPA of at least 2.5 have the opportunity to take part in the career fair that is set up by the university. The career fair takes place once or twice each semester and has a set date. It helps students strategize and make a solid plan for their future and career upon graduation.
