history
Hellenic American University was founded in 2004 in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA, as a private institution authorized to grant degrees by the New Hampshire State Legislature. It operates campuses in Nashua, New Hampshire, and Athens, Greece. In Athens, the university shares facilities with the Hellenic American Union (HAU) and the Hellenic American College (HAEC), its Greek counterpart. Hellenic American University is part of the New Hampshire College & University Council (NHCUC), a group of 17 public and private higher education institutions in the state of New Hampshire.

Nashua is conveniently located less than an hour from Boston, MA and offers entertainment and dining in one of the state’s first commercial centers. Once the center of the textile industry, Nashua has grown into southern New Hampshire’s second-largest city in the state and is now home to technology, defense, and other growing industries.

Hellenic American University admits students on the basis of academic potential and qualifications and not on their ability to pay. The University offers aid to students that show a financial need and scholarships to students with exceptional academic promise. In addition, limited teaching and research assistantships or work study are available to qualified students.
Need-based Scholarships:
Need-based scholarships are awarded to students with demonstrated financial need and who maintain good academic standing. Although need-based scholarships may cover a significant part of tuition fees in the case of exceptionally needy students, the University cannot guarantee that all need will be covered in all cases. The amount of need-based awards is decided on a case-by-case basis. To maintain and renew their awards undergraduate recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 while graduate students a minimum GPA of 3.25.
Merit-based Scholarships:
Merit scholarships are awarded to applicants with exceptional academic achievement, leadership potential or involvement in community service, depending on the particular type of scholarship. Recipients of these scholarships need to maintain a higher GPA than need-based recipients.
Corporate Scholarships:
The University Corporate Scholarship program provides sponsoring organizations with merit-based partial or full tuition subsidies for selected employees.
Early Admission Scholarships:
Early-admission scholarships are awarded to applicants who meet the University’s admission requirements and make an early decision to attend.

The CDO supports students throughout the career development life cycle, from discovering one’s talents and strengths and developing essential professional competencies, to shaping their unique identity point and presenting themselves professionally to prospective employers.

The CDO helps students put together a Career Development Plan for the duration of their studies, and works with them to assess progress made in achieving various competencies. In light of their particular plan, students attend career development workshops each semester; topics include interpersonal communication, time management, networking, goal-setting and action planning among others.

The CDO conducts employability research, collecting and providing information about labor market trends and employers’ skills demands, at a national and international level. The Office networks with potential employers to develop internship opportunities and career placements for students and graduates.

Working with the CDO, students build their own Unique Identity Point and learn how to consistently and professionally communicate this to future employers. The Office also provides assistance in CV & cover letter writing, and administers mock competency-based selection interviews.
