Studying master of Systems Thinking Practice at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom:

 

The world is constantly changing, so it affects the way organizations operate and their decision-making process. Master of Systems Thinking Practice is designed to strengthen the application of systems thinking to the development of governance processes, to help organizational sustainability, and to make appropriate decisions for organizations. The aim of this course is to attract people who are part of strategy extension or in mid-career decision-making roles and are interested in increasing their understanding and knowledge. This course provides an opportunity for students, in addition to continuing their activities in their current organizations, to complete their postgraduate studies and gain much more expertise and knowledge. Cranfield is closely linked to industry. Hence, it prepares students to meet current and emerging needs of more complex global demands. Course delivery is through oral examinations, written examinations, coursework, portfolio, and an individual thesis (for the MSc only). This course consists of fourteen compulsory modules, which are as follows. The provided modules may be modified or canceled due to research advances, changes in rules or for various other reasons.

Compulsory modules:

  • Fundamentals of Systems Thinking: It defines systems thinking and the concept of systems.
  • Introduction to Systems Methods: It defines a set of methods used by system practitioners.
  • Dialogue and Collaboration: The aim is to examine the world of prejudice, reasoning, and their impact on decision-making.
  • Systems Practice: The aim is to examine the world of prejudice, reasoning, and their impact on decision-making.
  • Systems Leadership and Organizational Behaviour: The aim is to evaluate and manage the impact of individuals and systems leadership on the flexibility and agility of organizations.
  • Formal Representation of Systems: It defines a variety of formal representations of systems and their behavior.
  • Complex Systems: This module addresses the use of microcosms to support their exploration, development of system models, and particular aspects of engaging with involved systems.
  • Systems Research Methods: The aim is to familiarize students with the method of research, selection, and their application.
  • Systems Thinking Development and Exploitation: The aim is to develop the application of your acquired knowledge and skills
  • Philosophy and Theory of Systems Thinking: Students will be able to understand the basic theory and philosophy of systems thinking and systems science
  • Architecting Enterprises: This module provides exercises, methods and tools to ensure that information systems meet the strategic needs of the business and their goals.
  • Systems Thinking for Social Change: It defines extra ways of thinking along with the use of selective tools and methods related to organizations.
  • Requisite Variety for Organizations: It defines extra ways of thinking along with the use of selective tools and methods related to organizations.
  • Systems Thinking Thesis: The purpose is to manage a self-directed research using the developed techniques, principles and methods taught during this course for a real world problem.

 

Admission requirements of master degree in Systems Thinking Practice:

The course offers three degrees: MSc, PgDip and PgCert. Students can enter the course to take any of these qualifications, which are held only part-time. Successful completion of the MSc course takes three years, PgDip two years and PgCert one year. To study the field, students need a first or second class UK honours degree or equivalent. Other lesser qualification with significant work experience may be accepted.

IELTS: 7.0 overall and 5.5 in all skill components

TOEFL: 100 total and minimum skill component scores of 18 reading, 17 listening, 20 speaking and 17 writing

Pearson PTE: 68 overall and 59 in all skill components

Cambridge Assessment English: Cambridge English Scale score of 190 overall and 160 in all skill components.

Trinity College London: Overall Pass outcome.

Language Cert: Pass overall and 33 in all skill components.

The expiration date for the exams is only two years of the course start date. Combination of scores in two or more tests is not accepted, all elements of test results must be shown in one test. All test scores are checked with test providers.

The School of Water, Energy and Environment, the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, and the School of Management are located on the Cranfield Campus, as well as many industrial-scale facilities for research.
There are many facilities on Cranfield Campus, including: student accommodation options, two hotels with full accommodation and conference and banqueting facilities, sports and recreation facilities, and a private airport. Cranfield Campus sports facilities include several tennis courts sports pitches, playing fields, an aerobics stadium, and a fitness center.
Students admitted to a full-time course can apply for on-campus accommodation. They will also be able to find private housing off campus in nearby areas. Cranfield Campus has 1,466 single rooms, 75 studio apartments for couples, and 97 family homes including two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and four-bedroom houses. All dormitories have Wi-Fi internet connection. All students will benefit from Endsleigh insurance, which covers the risks that may occur while living in student accommodation.
