Studying master of Structural Design at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom:
Modern aircraft manufacturers are looking for more durable and lightweight structures. The aircraft must have structural integrity in order to meet the regulations of airworthiness and economically achieve its design specifications. This course will give you an understanding of aerodynamics principles, airworthiness requirements, aircraft structure, design standards, stress analysis, loading, damage tolerance, and selection of suitable materials (composite and metal). You will experience flying with an NFLC aircraft. A safety briefing is held before the flight to familiarize you with the details of the maneuvers that must be performed. Each experiment lasts two to three hours. This course attracts mechanical and aviation engineers or those with relevant industry experience and prepares them for employment in the military and civilian industries. After graduation, students can work in the fields of designing system and structure and also analyzing stress. Some advantages of this course: providing an opportunity to join the CCAAA, covering future ATM systems, having access to support facilities and library, training by industry and university professionals, reviewing the content of the course by industrial advisory committee to ensure its relevance to the needs of the industry. This program is offered through a combination of private study, computer-based workshops, structured and industry guest lectures. This course is made up of nine compulsory and eleven elective modules, a group design project, and an individual research project. The provided modules may be modified or canceled due to research advances, changes in rules or for various other reasons. The group project consists of students with different nationalities and levels of experience. It provides an opportunity for them to design a significant part of the aircraft, prepare engineering drawings, and analyze their designs. The individual project provides an opportunity for students to use their knowledge to research problem solving.
