Studying master of Software Engineering for Technical Computing at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom:

 

The purpose of this course is to acquaint students with the development of parallel software in the cloud, on the desktop, and super-computer. It also provides students with the best approach to writing software for each of these platforms. The course combines software engineering with high-performance computing and equips students with the techniques and tools that employers are looking for. Graduates can work in a variety of sectors such as commercial engineering software developers, mobile application developers, financial software developers, telecommunications, automotive, medicine, or research organizations. The course content is reviewed twice a year by an industry consulting panel to ensure it is relevant to industry needs. The training is provided by prominent Cranfield faculty members who have industry and practical experience and work closely with business. Visiting lecturers, including experts from industry, are also invited. The program takes advantage of different cultural backgrounds to increase the learning experience for both staff and students. The course is delivered through a combination of computer-based workshops, tutorial sessions, and structured lectures. The course includes compulsory and specialized modules, a group project, and an individual research project. The core modules are the starting point of the specialized modules and also form the basis of this course. The provided modules may be modified or canceled due to research advances, changes in rules or for various other reasons. Successful production of a high quality final product depends on the relationship between the members of a team. The group project provides an opportunity for students to work on a real problem and propose and implement a solution. Students will learn how to organize a software development team and how to delegate responsibilities for each role to the final product. Part-time students can prepare a thesis on a topic agreed with the course director instead of a group project. The individual project allows students to do research in their area of interest. Part-time students can do their project in collaboration with their workplace.

 

Admission requirements of master degree in Software Engineering for Technical Computing:

The course only offers an MSc degree, which is held both full-time and part-time. Successful completion of the course takes one year full-time and two-three years part-time. To study the course, students need a first or second class UK honours (or equivalent) in computer science or electrical, mechanical, or aeronautical engineering. You can also apply as part of a recognized double-degree program with your home EU institution. Candidates with lesser qualifications but with significant relevant work experience may be accepted.

*Level C programming experience recommended, but not required.

 

Language requirements of master degree in Software Engineering for Technical Computing:

IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall and 5.5 in all skill components.

TOEFL IBT: 92 total and minimum skill component scores of 18 reading, 17 listening, 20 speaking and 17 writing.

PTE Academic: 65 overall and 59 in all skill components.

Cambridge Assessment English tests: Cambridge English Scale score of 180 overall and 160 in all skill components.

Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English III:   Pass

Language Cert: High pass overall and 33 in all skill components

The School of Water, Energy and Environment, the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, and the School of Management are located on the Cranfield Campus, as well as many industrial-scale facilities for research.
There are many facilities on Cranfield Campus, including: student accommodation options, two hotels with full accommodation and conference and banqueting facilities, sports and recreation facilities, and a private airport. Students admitted to a full-time course can apply for on-campus accommodation. They will also be able to find private housing off campus in nearby areas. Cranfield Campus has 1,466 single rooms, 75 studio apartments for couples, and 97 family homes including two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and four-bedroom houses.
