Studying postgraduate certificate in Military Electronic Systems Engineering Foundations at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom:
The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the principles of military electronic systems used in sensors and communications. The course takes students to a higher level of knowledge in sensor systems and military communications with a focus on electronic warfare. The course attracts armed forces officers, scientists and technical officers in defense industry and defense institutions. It is also suitable for those interested in dealing with sonar or information systems, technical management or military radar operation, communications, specification, electro-optics, development, and analysis in their future careers, where the emphasis will be on an electronic warfare environment. After graduation, students can work individually or as a team in the military or defense industry in the areas of defense information, development and acquisition of systems, including analysis and the characteristic of such systems. Cranfield provides students with the opportunity to visit service and industrial establishments to ensure that the taught subject is straightly relevant and up-to-date. This course is made up of six compulsory modules. The provided modules may be modified or canceled due to research advances, changes in rules or for various other reasons. Course delivery is in the form of tutorials, laboratory demonstrations, and lectures.
Compulsory modules:
- Communications Principles: Students will gain an understanding of modern business and military communication systems, the threats they face, and the steps needed to protect them.
- Communications Systems: Students will understand how to use modern business systems and military communications.
- Electromagnetic Propagation and Devices: The aim is to provide an understanding of devices and antennas related to military sensor, communications and electronic warfare systems, and electromagnetic propagation.
- Electro-optics and Infrared Systems 1: It introduces EO/IR systems which are common in military and civil applications.
- Signal Processing, Statistics and Analysis: This module offers important signal analysis and statistical tools used in sensor systems and communications.
- Radar Principles: Students will learn the basic principles, analysis and design of radar systems.
Admission requirements of postgraduate degree in Military Electronic Systems Engineering Foundations:
This course only offers a PgCert degree, which is held both full-time and part-time. Successful completion of the course takes 11 months full-time and two years part-time. To study the course, students need a first or second class UK honours (or equivalent) in science, engineering or mathematics. Candidates with lesser qualifications but with significant relevant work experience may be accepted.
Shrivenham Security clearance
Some courses of the Cranfield are offered at the British Defense Academy, so applicants must complete the BPSS or have a security clearance up to this level or higher before enrolling in the course.

The School of Water, Energy and Environment, the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, and the School of Management are located on the Cranfield Campus, as well as many industrial-scale facilities for research.

Students admitted to a full-time course can apply for on-campus accommodation. They will also be able to find private housing off campus in nearby areas. Cranfield Campus has 1,466 single rooms, 75 studio apartments for couples, and 97 family homes including two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and four-bedroom houses.
