Heritage crime is one of the truly growing sectors within criminology. Cultural crimes are so wide and divers that you really need to have experts who are grounded in lots of different forensic techniques. Cranfield is a really unique environment in which to study and investigate heritage crime. It focuses on all of the different aspects of investigating heritage crimes from understanding the various types of threats and risks which can arise in relation to cultural heritage, and also works closely with law enforcement. So, it can explore the processes and the procedures which are required to actually convert that through the legal process into successful prosecutions for the criminals who have targeted the heritage in the first place. This course is interdisciplinary; you will have many people from different backgrounds around you. You will gain the specialized skills that prepare you to meet the needs of the industry. Cranfield Forensic Institute’s new facilities are incredible for heritage crime, pretty much any material science question that you seek to answer about an object can be conducted here. Course delivery is through oral exam, written and practical examinations, project presentation and continuous evaluation. The course is made up of nine compulsory and ten elective modules (Students must choose up to two elective modules based on their personal interests or future needs), and a research project. The provided modules may be modified or canceled due to research advances, changes in rules or for various other reasons. The individual project runs from April to July; students propose their subjects or choose from a wide range of topics.

Admission requirements of master degree in Forensic Investigation of Heritage Crime:

The course offers three degrees: MSc, PgDip and PgCert. Students can enter the course to take any of these qualifications, which are held full-time and part-time. Successful completion of the MSc course takes 11 months full-time and three years part-time. Also, PgDip and PgCert courses last one year full-time and two years part-time.

To study this field, applicants need a first or second class UK honours (or equivalent) in forensic science, or scientific discipline or the professional equivalent. Other qualifications along with representing enthusiasm and knowledge in the scientific elements of the subject may be accepted.

 

Shrivenham Security clearance

Some courses of the Cranfield University are offered at the Defense Academy of the UK. Applicants must complete the BPSS before enrolling in the course or have a security clearance up to this level or higher.

The expiration date for the exams is only two years of the course start date. Combination of scores in two or more tests is not accepted, all elements of test results must be shown in one test. All test scores are checked with test providers.

The School of Water, Energy and Environment, the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, and the School of Management are located on the Cranfield Campus, as well as many industrial-scale facilities for research.
