Studying master of Forensic Ballistics at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom:

 

Today, the world needs specialists who are proficient in the fields of ballistics science, firearms research, and gun crime. The aim of this course is to provide an explicit comprehension of the ballistics, ways to resolve civil and criminal law issues through forensic evidence, ammunition and firearms operation, and the role of a forensic firearms inspector.  This course welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds around the world and generally has about 10 to 15 students per year. After graduation, students can work in NGOs, government agencies, forensic laboratories, and police departments, or conduct research at the doctoral level. Some advantages of this course: offering a various range of experiences using Cranfield’s unique facilities, networking and gaining discussion experience with different people, training by external speakers from industry and defense and Cranfield’s leading specialists with industry knowledge, collective thematic research, and capability expertise. Cranfield has a close relationship with the MOD and the UK Defense Academy. Therefore, students will have access to unrivaled facilities. This course is made up of ten compulsory and fifteen elective modules (students choose elective modules based on their personal interests or future needs), and an individual project. The individual project runs from April to July; students suggest their own subjects or choose from a various range of topics. Course delivery is through oral exam, written and hands-on examinations, project presentation, and continuous evaluation.

Admission requirements of master degree in Forensic Ballistics:

 

This course offers both MSc and PgDip degrees. Students can enter the course to take any of these qualifications, which are held full-time and part-time. Successful completion of the MSc takes 11 months full-time and three years part-time, and PgDip takes 11 months full-time and two years part-time.

To study the course, students need a first or second class UK honours (or equivalent) in a related discipline or the professional equivalent. Other qualifications along with representing enthusiasm and knowledge in the scientific elements of the subject may be accepted.

Shrivenham Security clearance

Some courses of the Cranfield are offered at the British Defense Academy, so applicants must complete the BPSS or have a security clearance up to this level or higher before enrolling in the course.

Language requirements of master degree in Forensic Ballistics:

 

IELTS: 7.0 overall and 5.5 in all skill components

TOEFL: 100 total and minimum skill component scores of 18 reading, 17 listening, 20 speaking and 17 writing

Pearson PTE: 68 overall and 59 in all skill components

Cambridge Assessment English: Cambridge English Scale score of 190 overall and 160 in all skill components.

Trinity College London: Overall Pass outcome.

Language Cert: Pass overall and 33 in all skill components.

The expiration date for the exams is only two years of the course start date. Combination of scores in two or more tests is not accepted, all elements of test results must be shown in one test. All test scores are checked with test providers.

The School of Water, Energy and Environment, the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, and the School of Management are located on the Cranfield Campus, as well as many industrial-scale facilities for research.

Students admitted to a full-time course can apply for on-campus accommodation. They will also be able to find private housing off campus in nearby areas.
