Studying master of Applied Bioinformatics at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom:
Bioinformatics is basically a combination between molecular biology or life science in general and computer science. It is the marriage between IT and biology. It facilitates researchers as well as academics to analyze big data sets. The field of Applied Bioinformatics is growing more and more, so it provides many job opportunities for people who understand both biological and computational aspects and are ready to face new challenges. During the course, you will acquire skills in developing new tools for drug discovery and diagnosis as well as processing genetic and genomic data using information technology and computational techniques. In addition, the latest advances in web-based and standalone technologies will provide you with the skills of designing and implementing software tools and databases. You will learn a variety of programming languages because there is no single preferred programming language in bioinformatics. Cranfield University offers lectures and hands-on sessions exclusively for applied bioinformatics MSc students as it is the only postgraduate university in the UK. This course focuses on 3GS and NGS. Hence, two specialized modules have been prepared which are about sequence data analysis. This course covers a variety of industrial and research applications such as: drug discovery, plant genetics and infectious diseases. Graduates can work in public research institutes, academia, industry or another various fields related to medicine. Advantages of this course include: training by a team of multidisciplinary experts from both Cranfield University and externally, supporting students to find the job they want by Cranfield Job Services, Supporting the student in the work application process, Cranfield’s leadership and collaboration in a variety of national and international consulting and research projects. Students will enjoy the support of Cranfield’s team of professorial thought leaders, including Professor Andrew Thompson. This course includes eight compulsory modules, an individual dissertation project and a group project which is offered from October to March. Part-time students will complete all of their compulsory modules with the agreement of the Course Director. The provided modules may be modified or canceled due to research advances, changes in rules or for various other reasons.

Admission Requirements of master degree in Applied Bioinformatics:
The course only offers an MSc degree, which is held both full-time and part-time. Successful completion of the course takes one year full-time and two-three years part-time. To study in this field, students must have a first- or second-degree UK degree (or equivalent) in life sciences, computer science or relevant professional experience.
