Advanced Materials Engineers are thought leaders in the manufacturing space. Manufacturing nowadays is not all red sparks and heat. It’s an intellectual challenge and very much related to computer games than hot iron and blast furnaces. This course is prepared for students who are interested in materials science to acquaint them with the methods of advanced design procedures, processing, selection and materials’ properties. Graduates can work in a variety of fields such as engineering, management, consulting, design, development and research (to solve industry challenges across the whole range of civil, electrical, energy, industry, manufacturing and transportation). Cranfield focuses on applying knowledge to real problems working in many cases with industry and current research; this supports the students moving into their careers so that they can anticipate the business needs. Cranfield Job Service has provided a variety of activities to fulfill its students’ career aspirations; students will have access to career coaching and advice, resume development, access to hundreds of available jobs through the Symplicity platform, and meet employers at our job fairs. This course provides students with the opportunity to be able to solve complicated engineering challenges, investigate the advanced topic of additive manufacturing in the Additive and Subtractive Manufacturing Technologies module, and participate in discussion on Composite Manufacturing, Material Selection, and the Failure of Materials modules in an effort to search for stronger, lighter, and more durable materials. They will also work on machines which some reflect what the industry have in state-of-the-art facilities. The course is made up of eight assessed modules, an individual research project, and a group project which are designed for the students to work in teams to be able to deliver solutions to the customer in time and on budget.

Admission Requirements of master degree in Advanced Materials:
The course offers three degrees: MSc, PgDip and PgCert. Students can enter the course to take any of these qualifications, which are held full-time and part-time. Successful completion of the MSc course takes one year full-time and three years part-time. Also, PgDip and PgCert courses last one year full-time and part-time two years. To study the field, students need a first or second class UK honours (or equivalent) in a relevant science, engineering or another related discipline. Other relevant qualifications with significant work experience may be considered. Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements can successfully qualify for the second year of study by completing the pre-master’s course.
