Studying bachelor’s in medicine at Acibadem University in Turkey:

They should also be able to establish an innovative and enterprising globally accepted scientific research environment, make contributions in the field of human health and science, using products and employing methods developed through the basic sciences and by clinical research.

Curriculum:

In the program for Phase I systems in organisms ranging from the simplest units such as cells to more complex systems including pathologies are taught as a whole. Phase I also includes Clinical Medicine and Professional Skills (CMPS) which is a program designed to be an initial introduction to medical professionalism providing students with relevant knowledge and skills. This program includes applied communication courses designed to help students with honing their skills prior to meeting patients during the Clinical Clerkship phase. Additionally, Phase I is enriched with practical applications at Family and Society Health Centers. This phase involves training settings which support the development of intellectual skills and human values.

During the 1-year Clinical Clerkships of Phase II, students continue to develop their existing clinical knowledge and skills by caring for inpatients and outpatients in a hospital setting.

During the 1-year Internship of Phase III students undertake the responsibility of patient care in a hospital or primary care setting under the supervision of teaching staff where they are able to apply their knowledge and skill in full.

Students develop their clinical skills through participation in programs at the Center of Advanced Simulation and Education (CASE) for six terms.

 

Career opportunity:

Graduates of the School of Medicine work in the Departments of the ministry, especially family health centers and community health centers in primary health care, with lots organized by the Ministry of Health for two years of mandatory service. Those who are successful in the medical specialty exam, which is held twice every year, start their specialty training in hospitals of universities or in educational and research hospitals belonging to the Ministry of Health.

  • Original of high school diploma (if it is in English or Turkish languages, translations in English or Turkish languages should be submitted.)

  • Equivalency Certificate: The equivalency certificate is an official document showing that the diploma/graduation certificate presented by the student is equivalent to the diploma/graduation certificates issued by Turkish schools. The Certificate of Equivalence can be obtained from the nearest Turkish Consulate(s) abroad, and in cases where it cannot be obtained from the relevant consulates or embassies, from the Provincial Directorate General of National Education in Istanbul. The rules and regulations regarding the equivalence certificate are determined by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey.

English language requirements:

  • Students who cannot submit a certificate are required to take the ACEPT (Acıbadem University English Proficiency Test) and must obtain at least the minimum passing grade determined by the Senate.
  • Students who cannot meet proficiency requirements are required to attend the English Preparatory Program.
  • Students who study at a secondary school in a country where English is spoken as a mother tongue for at least the last three years and complete secondary education in these institutions are exempt from the English Preparatory Program.

On-campus: Acibadem University requires all full time first year undergraduate students to live on campus and participate in one of the college meal plans. There is an All Male dormitory and All Female dormitory in different blocks of the campus. Students must retain full time academic status to live on campus. Students who live on campus have free breakfast included.

Off-Campus: Acibadem University does allow off-campus accommodation service. Students who wish to reside off-campus need to meet a few criterias and seek approval from the Student Dean. Accordingly, approval will be sent and students can take accommodation outside the campus. Generally, students find accommodation to be more economical outside the campus.

After Graduation

Acibadem University offers assistance with employment opportunities in a variety of on-campus jobs across almost every department. In addition to the financial benefits, on campus jobs help students develop both specific and transferable professional skills. Students must adhere to Student Employment policies and procedures that apply to all student employees.

International Students can only work 24 hours a week during term-time however they are allowed to work full-time during the holidays as per the rules set by the government. Students are advised to contact the Student Advisor to connect with employers for opportunities.
