history
This university was established around 650 years ago. it is the oldest university in the German-speaking world. The university was a centre of revolution in 1848 and in 1850 won important reforms, including greater freedom for teachers and students, the seminar method of instruction, and a wider selection of subjects. In 1878 women were admitted to study in the philosophy (liberal arts) faculty on a limited basis, broadened 11 years later; in 1900 the medical school became coeducational, in 1919 the law school.

Scholarships offered at University of Vienna:
Degree-program students and young researchers of all disciplines can apply for a scholarship. You have to be admitted to a Bachelor’s/Diploma/Master’s/PhD’s degree program at the time of application. Applicants receiving a federal aid for students (=”Studienbeihilfe”, proof required) and students from partner universities of the University of Vienna receive preferential treatment.
