ABOUT
Introduction
This well respected, internationally recognised, RICS-accredited course boasts strong industry links and puts you on the fast track to Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors membership. It’s designed to help you develop the key skills you’ll need to become highly employable.
Structure
Content
The course comprises 180 credits 120 taught and a further 60 for the dissertation.
Students work incrementally through the three stages and must pass all modules at each stage in order to progress to the next.
- Real Estate Economics and Valuations – Develops your skills at reading property markets and understanding the related data and explores different methods of valuation.
- Strategic Estate Management – Examines the role property plays in the economy, organisations and communities, and the importance of a strategic approach to managing property, aligning real estate and carrying out business strategies.
- Real Estate Law – Covers the basic principles of real estate law and explores in further detail the law in areas best suited to your ambitions.
- Real Estate Investment and Development – Examines the key areas of commercial real estate investment at portfolio level, and innovations in real estate investment, and the financial, fiscal, planning and other regulatory issues when creating residential and commercial property.
- Managerial Finance for the Built Environment – Looks at one of the mandatory RICS competencies by giving you a firm grounding in the interpretation of published accounts and financial information. It also introduces you to management accounting.
- Sustainability for the Built Environment – Delivered by a multi-disciplinary team to provide the foundation for understanding how sustainable development can be achieved in both new and existing developments from individual buildings to large-scale infrastructures and neighbourhoods.
Dissertation
This personal research project of 14,000 words is usually linked to an aspect of real estate that has a specific professional application or is of personal interest to you. You have the choice of submitting your dissertation in the April or September following completion of the taught modules.
Please also note this structure is for the full-time course delivery only. For part-time delivery, the same modules will be studied. However, the structure will differ.

Study time
You can begin your studies in September or January.
Full-time: 12 months.
You should spend a minimum of 28 hours a week studying.
Part-time: 24 months.
You should spend a minimum of 14 hours a week studying. Employed part-time students will also spend a further five hours a week in the workplace on Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)-related activities.
The taught portion of the programme is over two semesters (or four for part-time study). The first starts in September and ends in December, with an assessment period in January the second runs from January to April with an assessment period in May. You can start in either semester.

Entry requirements
We normally require an honours degree of 2.2 or above.
We can consider applicants who do not meet the normal entry requirement, but who do have relevant professional experience or qualifications. In your application, you should describe in detail your professional experience and qualifications.
English Language Requirement
International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component
Deadlines: for 2022
- Thursday 19 May – If you applied by 26 January and you are still waiting, universities will decide whether they are making an offer by today (otherwise UCAS will reject the application on their behalf). You will then be given a deadline by UCAS to make your decision.

Thursday 9 June – If you receive all your uni/college decisions by 19 May, you must reply to any offers by today (except if you are using Extra to find a place), otherwise they’ll be declined.

Thursday 30 June – This is the last day you can apply to university for 2022 entry before Clearing begins. If you send your first application (not UCAS Extra) to UCAS by 18:00, they’ll send it to your chosen university.
- Monday 4 July – Last date to apply in UCAS Extra.
- Tuesday 5 July – Clearing opens for applications if you already have your results.
- Thursday 14 July – If you applied by 30 June and you’re still awaiting a decision from any of your choices, universities have until 14 July to decide whether they’re making you an offer (including Extra choices).
- Thursday 18 August – A-level results day. Fingers crossed you got the grades you’re hoping for. If not, don’t panic – there are options including Clearing. We will confirm our decision by email.
- Once your place is confirmed and you have completed all admissions requirements you’ll receive your username so you can register online.

After Graduation
Most the international students desire to work while studying in the UK to pay for their study and living expenses in this country and gain more business and living skills and experience, however, the international students must refer to their visas to find out whether they are allowed to work in the UK or not, overall, the students who hold a tire four visa can have a part-time job while studying in the UK for up to 10 or 20 hours per week, on the other hand, if the students’ visas say (no work or work prohibited), they cannot look for a job in this country and must simply focus on their studies, moreover, their careers must not be self-employed, sports coach, entertainer, full-time job, dentist, or doctors.
