This well respected, internationally recognised, RICS-accredited course can be studied entirely online – with no need to attend UWE Bristol at any point. It is designed to develop the key skills you need to be highly employable.

Content

Studying while you work also provides valuable opportunities to apply what you have learned directly to your role. We use the latest online learning technology to make your distance learning experience as effective and rewarding as our traditionally taught courses.
You’ll have access to over 100 hours of recorded lectures from leading academics in the real estate management industry. And, as UWE Bristol is the largest university in the UK for degrees related to the built environment, you’ll share in our success. This success comes from the importance we place on student contact through seminars and lectures. To replicate that experience for you as a distance learning student, we’ve created an archive of lectures specifically for this degree, all accessible to you through our virtual learning platform.
Alongside these recorded lectures, you’ll be able to attend regular live online webinar workshops via Blackboard Collaborate. This comprehensive learning platform provides your entire course content, and puts you in contact with your tutor and fellow students. If the time of the webinar isn’t convenient, you can easily view them as recordings at a time that suits.

Course structure
You will study:
- Real Estate Economics and Valuations – Develops your skills at reading property markets and understanding the related data and explores different methods of valuation.
- Strategic Estate Management – The role property plays in the economy, organisations and communities, the importance of a strategic approach to managing property, aligning real estate and business strategies, and the value property and facilities management can add to an organisation.
- Real Estate Law – Covers the basic principles of real estate law and explores the law in areas best suited to your ambitions in further detail.
- Real Estate Investment and Development – This module examines the key areas of commercial real estate investment at portfolio level, and innovations in real estate investment, and the financial, fiscal, planning and other regulatory issues when creating residential and commercial property.
- Managerial Finance for the Built Environment – Looks at one of the mandatory RICS competencies by giving you a firm grounding in the interpretation of published accounts and financial information. It also introduces you to management accounting.
- Sustainability for the Built Environment – Delivered by a multidisciplinary team to provide the foundation for understanding how sustainable development can be achieved in both new and existing developments from individual buildings to large-scale infrastructures and neighbourhoods.
Dissertation
This personal research project of 12,000 to 14,000 words is usually linked to an aspect of real estate that has a specific professional application or is of personal interest to you.
The University continually enhances our offer by responding to feedback from our students and other stakeholders, ensuring the curriculum is kept up to date and our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for the real world. This may result in changes to the course. If changes to your course are approved we will inform you.
Study time
Full time students will complete the course in 12 months. If you’d prefer to study on a part-time basis, you’ll complete the course over 24 months.
The taught portion of the programme is delivered over four semesters. Each year, the first Semester starts in September and ends in December with an assessment period in January. The second semester runs from January to April with an assessment period in May. You can start in either semester.

Entry requirements
We normally require an honours degree of 2.2 or above.
We can consider applicants who do not meet the normal entry requirement, but who do have relevant professional experience or qualifications. In your application, you should describe in detail your professional experience and qualifications.
English Language Requirement
International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component
Deadlines: for 2022
- Thursday 19 May – If you applied by 26 January and you are still waiting, universities will decide whether they are making an offer by today (otherwise UCAS will reject the application on their behalf). You will then be given a deadline by UCAS to make your decision.

Thursday 9 June – If you receive all your uni/college decisions by 19 May, you must reply to any offers by today (except if you are using Extra to find a place), otherwise they’ll be declined.

Thursday 30 June – This is the last day you can apply to university for 2022 entry before Clearing begins. If you send your first application (not UCAS Extra) to UCAS by 18:00, they’ll send it to your chosen university.
- Monday 4 July – Last date to apply in UCAS Extra.
- Tuesday 5 July – Clearing opens for applications if you already have your results.
- Thursday 14 July – If you applied by 30 June and you’re still awaiting a decision from any of your choices, universities have until 14 July to decide whether they’re making you an offer (including Extra choices).
- Thursday 18 August – A-level results day. Fingers crossed you got the grades you’re hoping for. If not, don’t panic – there are options including Clearing. We will confirm our decision by email.
- Once your place is confirmed and you have completed all admissions requirements you’ll receive your username so you can register online.

After Graduation
Most the international students desire to work while studying in the UK to pay for their study and living expenses in this country and gain more business and living skills and experience, however, the international students must refer to their visas to find out whether they are allowed to work in the UK or not, overall, the students who hold a tire four visa can have a part-time job while studying in the UK for up to 10 or 20 hours per week, on the other hand, if the students’ visas say (no work or work prohibited), they cannot look for a job in this country and must simply focus on their studies, moreover, their careers must not be self-employed, sports coach, entertainer, full-time job, dentist, or doctors.
