This course is intended to give you an overview of the basic principles, features and essential tools of the software programme Adobe Illustrator. This powerful, industry-standard vector program is compatible with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and forms part of the Adobe Design Suite. It’s an important aspect of any designer’s set of digital tools. Adobe Illustrator is aimed at professionals as well as enthusiastic amateurs, and enables artists and designers to create logos, illustrations and technical drawings for use in print or on the web. Drawing can be simple or complex, and you can blend, use layers, create masks and apply many other features. Used alongside InDesign and Photoshop ‘Illustrator’ is a powerful package enabling digital drawings and graphics to be made ready for print or web, and to professional standards. Our course will enable you to get the most out of this software. You will learn how to navigate the basic Adobe Illustrator menus to get you started, and also find and use some of the hidden tools and features. By the end of the course, you will be able to use vector drawing skills to create your own digital graphics and drawings from scratch. By the final session you will be given the opportunity to gain practical experience of using these skills, and apply your knowledge to your own designs with guidance from the course tutor.
