ABOUT
Overview
Develop the skills you need for a career as a clinical technologist, capable of applying your knowledge to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. You will learn:
- to design and manufacture medical equipment
- tissue engineering and wound repair for making artificial organs
- application, repair and maintenance of medical devices
- to carry out physiological measurements, such as ECG, EMG, BMI, spirometry and skin analysis
You will specialise in three areas – renal technology (dialysis), rehabilitation engineering (prosthetics / orthotics), and medical technology/engineering.
Technological innovation in the field of medicine and healthcare is accelerating at an enormous pace. The modern hospital is now the centre of a technologically sophisticated healthcare system, and this requires equally technologically sophisticated staff. This mean you’ll be highly employable as a graduate.
A placement year in industry, taken in year three of the programme, enables you to build contacts whilst developing your skills and professional confidence.

A levels
BBC to include Maths or a Science subject.
Please note that where a science A level is taken, the University will require applicants to pass the practical element (for A levels awarded from August 2017 onwards).
BTEC Extended Diploma
DMM. Science or Health subject required.
Applicants on Access Programmes
112 UCAS tariff points from an Access to Higher Education Diploma. Science subject required.
International Baccalaureate requirements
112 UCAS tariff points to include 1 HL in Maths or a Science subject. Plus HL 3 or SL 4 in Maths and English Language and Literature A or English B.
Plus minimum of
GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or 4 (equivalents accepted).
English language requirements
Minimum IELTS at 6.0 or the equivalent.

If you are an International student and do not meet the entry requirements for direct entry onto this course you may be interested in our International College.
Progression requirements for degree programme
Pass each module and achieve a programme average of at least 40%.
If you do not meet the entry requirements for this course, our Foundation Year has a route to Clinical Technology.
Advanced entry
If you are currently studying at another university and would like to transfer to the University of Bradford, this course accepts students into the second or third year. This is called advanced entry
Applications for advanced entry will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must include an official transcript (not a screenshot of a portal), all module descriptors, and relevant qualifications. Module descriptors must include learning outcomes.

Clinical technologists are intimately involved in many aspects of healthcare, and are instrumental in bridging the gap between clinicians and engineers. They don’t work directly with patients, but with the technology used to support patient care.

Accommodation at the University of Bradford in the UK is centered around The Green Village, recommended for students. It offers two options:
- Apartments: Ideal for those who prefer privacy, each apartment has six en-suite bedrooms with private shower rooms. They feature a shared kitchen/dining area and living space, along with a three-quarter bed, desk study area, and wardrobe in each bedroom. These apartments are also designed to accommodate people with disabilities.
- Townhouses: These are blocks of houses, similar to traditional English terraced blocks, and are the more affordable option. Each townhouse has 12 bedrooms sharing a large open-plan living space with a kitchen/dining area and living space. Each floor has four bedrooms sharing two shower rooms. Bedrooms include a three-quarter bed, desk study area, and wardrobe.
The cost of accommodation is about 50 to 55 pounds per week.
