Overview
This course is designed to help students access a range of science and health related courses – including clinical sciences, medicine and pharmacy.
Entry onto Clinical Sciences with Integrated Foundation Year provides students with a unique and exciting opportunity to study science and health modules in preparation for progression onto the clinical sciences degree programme and to support entry to health related courses.
Historically, around 40 offers to study medicine have been made to Clinical Sciences with Integrated Foundation Year students each year.
The course is aimed at a wide range of students, including those with a science background or with non-science qualifications.
The aim of the programme is to provide you with an integrated knowledge and understanding of science and health-related issues, putting you in an excellent position to apply to medical school or a variety of courses leading to careers within the health sector or pharmaceutical industries.
On completion of the Clinical Sciences Foundation Year, many students have progressed to Medical School and the BSc (Hons) in Clinical Sciences. Students have also accessed many healthcare sciences programmes leading to careers including:
- Physiotherapist
- Biomedical Scientist
- Physician Associate
- Healthcare Manager
An important focus of the Clinical Sciences Foundation Year is to encourage progression into medicine and healthcare education from under-represented groups. In addition to progression onto the BSc (Hons) in Clinical Sciences, we have an established partnership with Sheffield Medical School so that the Clinical Sciences Foundation Year provides a formal opportunity for widening participation students to apply to enter the MBChB at Sheffield
In addition to our relationship with Sheffield Medical School, the high quality of our Foundation Year means that it is also recognised by other medical schools. Students have applied successfully to Leeds, Hull, York, Brighton and Sussex, and Norwich medical schools. Please check individual medical school websites for more information relating to their entry requirements.
Entry requirements during Clearing
Places are available for this course via Clearing. There may be some flexibility in entry requirements for courses that still have places available for this year’s September entry.

A levels
104 UCAS tariff points from 3 A levels, to include two A Levels with a minimum grade C.
BTEC Extended Diploma

Applicants on Access Programmes
106 UCAS tariff points from an Access to Higher Education Diploma. There are no specific subject requirements.
International Baccalaureate requirements
104 UCAS tariff points from 3 HL subjects, to include 2 HL subjects at minimum grade 5 plus HL 3 or SL 4 in Maths and English Language and Literature A or English B.
Plus minimum of
GCSE English Language, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry (or Combined Science) at grade C or 4.
Additional entry requirements
Applications will be screened for evidence of academic potential, motivation and interpersonal skills plus the experiences and qualities necessary for a future healthcare professional. All shortlisted candidates will be invited to a selection day.

Minimum IELTS at 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each sub-test) or the equivalent.

Career support
The University is committed to helping students develop and enhance employability and this is an integral part of many programmes. Specialist support is available throughout the course from Career and Employability Services including help to find part-time work while studying, placements, vacation work and graduate vacancies. Discussing options with specialist advisers helps to clarify plans through exploring options and refining skills of job-hunting. In most of our programmes there is direct input by Career Development Advisers into the curriculum or through specially arranged workshops.
The Careers and Professional Development module
Our core stage two module prepares you for making effective career decisions on leaving the University. You will learn how to evaluate your own skills, abilities, interests and values, and to relate these to a range of career options.
You will develop employability skills such as CV preparation, interview techniques and presentation delivery.

Accommodation at the University of Bradford in the UK is centered around The Green Village, recommended for students. It offers two options:
- Apartments: Ideal for those who prefer privacy, each apartment has six en-suite bedrooms with private shower rooms. They feature a shared kitchen/dining area and living space, along with a three-quarter bed, desk study area, and wardrobe in each bedroom. These apartments are also designed to accommodate people with disabilities.
- Townhouses: These are blocks of houses, similar to traditional English terraced blocks, and are the more affordable option. Each townhouse has 12 bedrooms sharing a large open-plan living space with a kitchen/dining area and living space. Each floor has four bedrooms sharing two shower rooms. Bedrooms include a three-quarter bed, desk study area, and wardrobe.
The cost of accommodation is about 50 to 55 pounds per week.
