Curriculum:
The Primary QTS Conversion Course is a 37-week school-based course that is completed across the school year. During which time you will work under the guidance of a school mentor and receive fortnightly tutorials to review your progress and to set targets. Trainees on the QTS conversion complete 15 Professional Learning Activities over the duration of the programme, meet with their mentor 15 times and have 15 lesson observations. You will also be assigned a University tutor who will visit twice during the course of the year to assess your progress against the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework and guide your development.

This course is the accreditation that enables teachers to teach in state-maintained and special schools in England.

Entry requirement:
- You must be employed as a teacher in an independent or state-maintained primary school in England and be teaching the core subjects (English, maths and science) for a minimum of 50% of a full timetable. General primary trainees must be teaching the three core subjects across two consecutive Key Stages and for the subject specific course trainees’ teaching time should be split 50:50 between the core subjects and their chosen specific subject.

- GCSE in English Language, Maths and Science at grade C/4 or above or equivalent.
- Attend an interview.
- Demonstrate competence in literacy and numeracy
- Provide a reference from your headteacher supporting your application to undertake a PGCE.
- Obtain the commitment from your school to release you for the second school placement and to provide a suitable mentor.
- Provide a satisfactory criminal record check and show the physical and mental fitness to teach.

- copy of your degree certificate
- copy of your English, Maths and Science GCSE (or equivalent) certificates
- copy of passport photo page (and visa/work permit where necessary)
- head and shoulder style photo for your University identity card
English language requirements:
The university offers English foundation courses which are designed to prepare you for university study. Successful completion of these allows progression to various degrees at The University of Buckingham if the relevant academic requirements have been met.

Buckingham university offers accommodation to its students with free insurance, in fact, the best student insurance of the country. The university offers different types of residences with different prices and different facilities and amenities. The Sunley House consists of 39 ensuite rooms and costs £170 a week. Norton’s Place, which includes 8 rooms, costs £205 a week and is suitable for couples. Hailsham House has 43 Premium ensuite, that cost £170 a week and 42 standard rooms, all of which cost £130 per week.
Hutber House includes 20 Standard rooms that cost £130 a week. Bishops Court holds 32 flats that cost between £130 to £140 a week, the price varies based on the level of the privacy of the rooms. Mitre Court consists of 22 Flats with standard rooms and cost £130 and 7 self-contained Flats that cost roughly £205 a week. Beloff House holds 66 Ensuites that cost up to £140 per week. The university offers many more accommodation options in different parts of the city with similar facilities and costs.
