ABOUT
Introduction:
Quantity surveyors manage the commercial aspects of building and civil engineering projects, including finances, procurement and contracts. On this course, we’ll equip you to specialise in this field – preparing you for roles that sit at the heart of the construction process.
You’ll learn about the various procurement options available in the UK and internationally, and develop approaches that seek to maximise client value, minimise costs and deliver construction projects to the required standards. Through module and project work, you’ll explore construction law, technology and management and have the opportunity to source and gain real work experience on our Industrial or Professional Experience optional module.
What you’ll study
You’ll learn about the various procurement options available in the UK and overseas, and develop approaches that seek to maximise client value, while reducing cost for construction projects.
Course structure
The course is formed of six core modules, three of which are shared with other construction management courses. This provides the opportunity for multi-disciplinary group work, which aims to extend your knowledge and peer network. You’ll also be able to choose between a further two optional modules, offering the opportunity to pursue research or to undertake a work placement in industry.
Your seven taught modules will total 180 credit points. The modules’ credit points are weighted based on the total time you can expect to spend studying the module content, both in terms of contact hours and non-contact hours.
