ABOUT
Introduction:
Combining computer science, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering and management, the course enables students to develop imaginative and innovative design solutions, enterprise, leadership and interpersonal skills.
This Engineering (Electronics) postgraduate degree will furnish graduates with a greater understanding of imaging and display technology and smart mathematical techniques for engineering design and optimisation. The course emphasises the importance of independent learning, problem solving and self-organisation.

The school of Science and Technology will work closely with you to help find a placement and strengthen your CV and interview techniques. You’ll be supported and assessed throughout your placement year and will write a reflective report and diary at the end of your placement. When you successfully complete your placement and submit your placement report, you will be eligible to receive an additional award of a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice.
Please note that placements are not guaranteed and the process is competitive through an application and interview process.
If you take the sandwich route, you will take a one-year work placement after the first three terms before returning to NTU the following year to start your research project.
Our recent students have taken placements across a wide range of companies including Active Plan Consulting, Suman Chemical Industries and Techplus Solutions. They secured varied roles such as Software Engineer, Cloud Operations Officer and Business Analyst.
Entry requirements
You will need:
- A UK honours degree (minimum 2.2) or equivalent in a related discipline such as electronics, electrical, physics or engineering subjects
- Applicants with relevant employment experience or other relevant qualifications will also be considered

Tuition fees are payable for each year that you are at the University. The level of tuition fees for the second and subsequent years of your postgraduate course may increase in line with inflation and as specified by the UK government.
If you choose to study the two-year route of an eligible course, which incorporates a work placement, the fee for Year Two will be £1,385.
If you’re starting a postgraduate course in January 2023 you’ll pay the 2022 fee.
Late Applications
If you missed the UCAS January deadline, it’s not too late to apply to join us in September 2022.
Applying to university after the January deadline isn’t anything to worry about – we accept applications for most of our undergraduate courses until Thursday 30 June 2022.
If you apply after Thursday 30 June 2022, your application will automatically be entered into Clearing. Clearing opens on Tuesday 5 July 2022, but we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible.
