ABOUT
Introduction:
Our Masters in Illustration is specifically designed to help you develop and craft your personal visual language, taking your illustrative practice to the next level. Combining theory and practice, you will create a bespoke portfolio that truly represents you as a creative. You will have the opportunity to engage in three areas of Illustration Research Excellence: Narrative, Entrepreneurial and Experimental Illustration. You will join other creative minds and collaborate with postgraduate students across the School of Art and Design; and you will focus on your professional journey as an illustrator/academic.
What you’ll study
In our studio-based illustrative masterclass series, delivered by a team of internationally recognised illustrators and academics, you will engage in hands-on, practical experiences including workshops in areas such as Sequence in Children’s Books, Graphic Novels, Illustrative Ceramics, Watercolour for illustrators, Undigital digital Image, Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects. Complimentary to this is our unique Professional Futures module and Advancing Research Design module, which are designed to help focus and enhance your future career ambitions, whether those are commercial, experimental, or academic. You will leave us confident and equipped to succeed in your chosen visual field, whether industry or academia.

Tuition fees are payable for each year that you are at the University. The level of tuition fees for the second and subsequent years of your postgraduate course may increase in line with inflation and as specified by the UK government.
If you choose to study the two-year route of an eligible course, which incorporates a work placement, the fee for Year Two will be £1,385.
If you’re starting a postgraduate course in January 2023 you’ll pay the 2022 fee.
Late Applications
If you missed the UCAS January deadline, it’s not too late to apply to join us in September 2022.
Applying to university after the January deadline isn’t anything to worry about – we accept applications for most of our undergraduate courses until Thursday 30 June 2022.
If you apply after Thursday 30 June 2022, your application will automatically be entered into Clearing. Clearing opens on Tuesday 5 July 2022, but we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible.
