Introduction:
Our LLB International Law degree enables you to study both domestic and international law with the option to remain at the Law School throughout your degree or to spend either the second half of your second year or the whole of your third year studying abroad (returning to the Law School for your final year).
This course enables you to study Law from an international perspective. You will explore the foundations of international relations and you will be able to take optional modules such as the Laws of Armed Conflict or United States Law. By studying an exciting range of domestic and international law topics relevant to our global society, you will gain the skills that are needed in a changing business climate, both in the UK and overseas.

A Law degree is highly valued and provides a solid foundation for a variety of careers.
Upon completion of your degree you can choose to apply for one of our courses preparing you for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam. It also enables you to progress on to the LLM Barristers Training Course (BTC) or PGDip BTC for intending barristers.
We do encourage you to submit your application for these courses as early as possible to avoid disappointment. These courses can reach maximum capacity prior to the course start date.
The Solicitors Qualifying Exam
Starting in September 2021, the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) is a new common assessment that those wishing to qualify as a solicitor must pass. We’ve been preparing for the implementation of the new SQE system since the SRA decided to make the changes.
A Law degree doesn’t just have to lead to a career as a solicitor or barrister. On our LLB course you will gain a host of transferable skills including an international perspective and an appreciation of the law that many employers will value, both in the UK and overseas. In the last few years our graduates have gone on to positions including:

We will encourage you to get relevant work experience during the vacations. You will achieve our Certificate in Professional Practice if you successfully undertake ten weeks’ relevant work experience. This qualification will:
- look good on your CV
- demonstrate you have developed practical skills and work-based competencies.
You will be responsible for organising your own placements with the support of the University. You will receive an introduction to the Certificate and advice on securing placements in the first year.
Entry requirements
For this course, you will need one of the following:
- A levels: ABB; or
- BTEC Extended Diploma DDM; or
- 128 UCAS Tariff points from 3 A-levels or equivalent qualifications; and
- GCSE Maths or Science and English grade C / 4.
Fees and funding
International fees for 2022 entry onto a full-time undergraduate course are:
- £15,600, or
- £16,200 (for courses in the Nottingham School of Art & Design and Nottingham Business School).
Tuition fees are payable for each year that you are at University. Tuition fees for the second and subsequent years of your undergraduate course may increase in line with inflation and as specified by the UK government.
If you choose to do a work placement as part of the undergraduate course the fee for the work placement will be £1,385.
Late Applications
If you missed the UCAS January deadline, it’s not too late to apply to join us in September 2022.
Applying to university after the January deadline isn’t anything to worry about – we accept applications for most of our undergraduate courses until Thursday 30 June 2022.
If you apply after Thursday 30 June 2022, your application will automatically be entered into Clearing. Clearing opens on Tuesday 5 July 2022, but we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible.
