ABOUT
Introduction:
This course is an integrated foundation degree, where you’ll progress onto our BSc (Hons) Chemistry course, once you successfully complete your foundation year. If your interests lie in medicinal chemistry, you can also transfer on to our BSc (Hons) Medicinal Chemistry course after your foundation year.
We support you every step of the way to becoming a confident chemistry graduate. Part of that is giving you lots of hands-on experience of a range of state-of-the-art equipment including mass spectrometry, HPLC, GC, x-ray crystallography and nmr spectroscopy – the same equipment used by professional chemists in industry.
As well as the support you’ll get from our experienced teaching staff and technicians, you’ll also learn in small teaching groups to allow you to develop confidence, boost your technical skills and meet new friends.

Careers and employability
Because our chemistry graduates possess a wide range of academic and transferrable skills, they have excellent employment prospects. In addition to analytical and developmental chemistry, they have also worked in scientific sales, pharmaceuticals, research, and teaching. Recent graduates have secured roles as analytical chemists, pharmaceutical chemists and research chemists in organisations such as AstraZeneca, Boots and Bayern Oil.

What are we looking for?
- 72 UCAS tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent; or
- BTEC Extended Diploma – MMP; and
- GCSEs
- Maths grade B/6
- English C/4
- Chemistry or Double Science B/6
Fees and funding
International fees for 2022 entry onto a full-time undergraduate course are:
- £15,600, or
- £16,200 (for courses in the Nottingham School of Art & Design and Nottingham Business School).
Tuition fees are payable for each year that you are at University. Tuition fees for the second and subsequent years of your undergraduate course may increase in line with inflation and as specified by the UK government.
If you choose to do a work placement as part of the undergraduate course the fee for the work placement will be £1,385.

If you missed the UCAS January deadline, it’s not too late to apply to join us in September 2022.
Applying to university after the January deadline isn’t anything to worry about – we accept applications for most of our undergraduate courses until Thursday 30 June 2022.
If you apply after Thursday 30 June 2022, your application will automatically be entered into Clearing. Clearing opens on Tuesday 5 July 2022, but we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible.
