Studying Applied Psychology in Coventry University in England:

 

The bachelor of science in applied psychology program’s main objective is to provide students with an intellectual, challenging and practical learning atmosphere that prepares them for a successful vocational path in a field where they can make great contributions to the society and the community.

This course is indeed offered by Coventry university; however, it does not take place in the Coventry city campus. It is held in the London campus and the Scarborough campus. Students are awarded a bachelor degree after studying for 3 years. Those who do not care to fully complete the program, are offered a Higher National Certificate after one year and those who study for two years, receive a Higher National degree. In addition, it is offered in the form of a top up program, suitable for students who have a background knowledge about psychology and have an HNC or HND degree.

By taking part in this course, students gain full insight on the state of mind and behaviors of humans; they are also taught how to utilize their existing knowledge and find solutions to clinical problems.  The education system of the program consists of both academic and practical courses, all of which are taught by highly trained experts who are familiar with the contemporary science of the field. Students have the chance to use the school’s fully equipped libraries, seminar rooms, computer rooms and generally learning services. In addition, they gain an in-depth understanding of the concepts and theories of the field by taking courses like Principles of Psychology, Society, Psychology in Context, Individual Differences and Personality, Brain and Behavior, Applications in Psychology, Applied Social and Developmental Psychology, Cognition and Performance and Psychological Therapies. Students also need to pass courses about research methods and need to complete a final research project, based on which their career will start.

The program takes three years and costs 15,300 pounds. However, students have the chance to pay an additional 1,250 pounds and take advantage of an additional year which includes professional placement or studying abroad. This additional academic year is not at the end of the program, rather in the middle. It takes place after the second year and is followed by the final year. Generally, students who wish to gain professional experience, must take the work placement module and the bachelor degree they receive, mentions “With Professional Enhancement”. Students studying in the undergraduate level programs can be accommodated in four different student residences; Bishop Gate, Godiva Place, The Cycle Works and Singer Hall. Bishop gate complex, which was built in 2018, is extremely modern and convenient. It consists of 725 suites, all of which are equipped with amenities like TV, Wi-Fi, Launderette and gyms. The dorms are highly safe and secure as well as clean. It is also within walking distance from the city center and the university. Godiva place has all the same amenities as Bishop gate but is about 5 minutes closer to the university. It also consists of 772 residences. The cycle works is a bit older and smaller than the previous two but it is just as modern and convenient. It was built in 2017 and holds 347 residences. It is only 5 minutes away from the university and is equipped with all the same amenities as the previous two. Singer hall is similar to the others with two differences. It includes 693 residences and is equipped with a parking space.

 

Language requirements of bachelor degree in Applied Psychology:

Students need a language qualification equal to IELTS 6 and higher.

Students who want to apply for the top up program need a language qualification equal to IELTS 6.5 and higher.
