Studying Professional Policing in Coventry University in England:

 

The bachelor of art in Professional Policing is indeed Offred by Coventry university in England; however, it is not only offered by the Coventry campus. In fact, it takes place in two different campuses; the Coventry campus and the Scarborough campus. They differ in some aspects; although, they are both highly up to standard in terms of education quality and facilities and have been accredited by Policing Education Qualification Framework. this particular program is held in the Coventry campus.

The main objective of the program is to prepare students to enter the police force by familiarizing them with modern concepts in this field. students gain insight on different aspects of the field such as protecting the vulnerable, digital policing, counter-terrorism measures, Response Policing, Policing Communities, Policing the Roads, Information and Intelligence, as well as Conducting Investigations.

Students become fully educated about theoretical topics by taking courses like Professional Policing and the Criminal Justice System, Evidence-based Policing, Policing Responsibilities, Understanding Policing Practice, Principles of Modern Policing, Aspects of Policing Practice, Professional, Leadership and Problem-Solving Skills in Policing, as well as Community Policing Priorities. Finally, students are expected to complete a Specialist Research and an Independent Research Project on Policing in order to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. All these courses are taught on an international level and by highly trained and educated experts. Additionally, students become familiar with Research Methods and are obligated to complete a Research Project in order to successfully graduate from the program. Upon graduation, students can become Police Constables and they have 5 years to apply to the police force of their choosing.

The program takes three years and costs 15,300 pounds. However, students have the chance to pay an additional 1,250 pounds and take advantage of an additional year which includes professional placement or studying abroad. This additional academic year is not at the end of the program, rather in the middle. It takes place after the second year and is followed by the final year. Generally, students who wish to gain professional experience, must take the work placement module and the bachelor degree they receive, mentions “With Professional Enhancement”. Those students who prefer to gain a worldly view, need to take on the study abroad module and the bachelor degree they are offered, mentions “With International Enhancement”. Moreover, students of the Coventry campus are presented with the opportunity to take part in this program in the form of part-time and receive first-hand professional experience and earn money while studying.

The university offers various residential options for students in undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Students studying in the undergraduate level programs can be accommodated in four different student residences; Bishop Gate, Godiva Place, The Cycle Works and Singer Hall. Bishop gate complex, which was built in 2018, is extremely modern and convenient. It consists of 725 suites, all of which are equipped with amenities like TV, Wi-Fi, Launderette and gyms. The dorms are highly safe and secure as well as clean. It is also within walking distance from the city center and the university. Godiva place has all the same amenities as Bishop gate but is about 5 minutes closer to the university. It also consists of 772 residences. The cycle works is a bit older and smaller than the previous two but it is just as modern and convenient. It was built in 2017 and holds 347 residences. It is only 5 minutes away from the university and is equipped with all the same amenities as the previous two. Singer hall is similar to the others with two differences. It includes 693 residences and is equipped with a parking space.

 

Language requirements of bachelor degree in Professional Policing:

 

Students need a language qualification equal to IELTS 6 and higher. Each component mut be at least 5.5.

Students who wish to attend this program, as a top-up program, are required to have a language qualification equal to IELTS 6.5.

Students who do not meet the required language qualifications can attend the pre-sessional English program.
