Studying Health & Social Care in Coventry University in England:

 

The bachelor of art in Early Childhood Development and Learning program is offered in two different university campuses of Coventry university in England; the London campus and the Scarborough campus. Each one is slightly different but both of them are equally great. This specific program is offered by the Scarborough campus.

The main focus of the program is providing students with the necessary academic background and set of skills to prepare them for a successful future in this professional field. this goal is achieved by offering courses that are taught on an international level and by highly trained and educated experts. Moreover, students have the opportunity to improve their abilities by using facilities like learning services, seminar rooms, libraries and IT suits.

Students become fully educated about theoretical topics by taking courses like Principles of Health and Social Care Practice, Safe and Effective Practice, Interprofessional Approaches to Service Delivery, Evidence Based Reflective Practice in Health and Social Care, Innovations and Advances in Health and Social Care Policy, Mental Health, Social Policy and Communities, Life Stage and Development, Public and Community Health Care, Epidemiology and Disease, as well as International Perspectives. Throughout the course of the program, students also become familiar with the most effective and modern research methods. Their knowledge and skills are put to test during the final year when they are assigned to conduct an independent research project about health and safety issues. Students are required to collect data, analyze it and make conclusions.

What is more, students who do not wish to study for the full three-year period, can study for one year and receive a higher national certificate. Those students who have prior background about the field or already have an HNC or HND, can attend this program as a top-up program and receive their bachelor degree.                         

Upon graduation, students have the competence to find employment is public, private or governmental organizations and take the positions of Care Worker, Social Worker, Community Support Worker or Occupational Therapist.

The program takes three years and costs 15,300 pounds. However, students have the chance to pay an additional 1,250 pounds and take advantage of an additional year which includes professional placement or studying abroad. This additional academic year is not at the end of the program, rather in the middle. It takes place after the second year and is followed by the final year. Generally, students who wish to gain professional experience, must take the work placement module and the bachelor degree they receive, mentions “With Professional Enhancement”. Those students who prefer to gain a worldly view, need to take on the study abroad module and the bachelor degree they are offered, mentions “With International Enhancement”.

The final grade of Pre-University year (KonKur) should be at least 13 out of 20

Students who do not meet the requirements must take an International Foundation Year – health and social care in order to prepare for the program.

Minimum two A2 levels or BTEC equivalent qualification.

The university offers various residential options for students in undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Students studying in the undergraduate level programs can be accommodated in four different student residences; Bishop Gate, Godiva Place, The Cycle Works and Singer Hall. Bishop gate complex, which was built in 2018, is extremely modern and convenient. It consists of 725 suites, all of which are equipped with amenities like TV, Wi-Fi, Launderette and gyms. The dorms are highly safe and secure as well as clean. It is also within walking distance from the city center and the university. Godiva place has all the same amenities as Bishop gate but is about 5 minutes closer to the university. It also consists of 772 residences. The cycle works is a bit older and smaller than the previous two but it is just as modern and convenient. It was built in 2017 and holds 347 residences. It is only 5 minutes away from the university and is equipped with all the same amenities as the previous two. Singer hall is similar to the others with two differences. It includes 693 residences and is equipped with a parking space.

 

Language requirements of bachelor degree Health & Social Care:

Students need a language qualification equal to IELTS 6 and higher. Each component mut be at least 5.5.

Students who whish to attend this program, as a top-up program, are required to have a language qualification equal to IELTS 6.5.

Students who do not meet the required language qualifications can attend the pre-sessional English program.
