Studying bachelor’s in Peace and Development at Linnaeus University in Sweden:
The Peace and Development Programme provides you with comprehensive knowledge within the areas of conflict transformation, peacebuilding, development work and international development cooperation. You also gain knowledge about the connection to human rights and security issues. By combining theory with experiences from practice abroad, you will be able to work in a wide range of organisations, both in Sweden and abroad. The language of teaching is English, and the programme offers cross-cultural perspectives and experiences.

Curriculum:
The Peace and Development Programme combines an interdisciplinary approach to conflict, peace, development and security issues with in-depth, subject-specific analysis and case studies. During the first year students are introduced to the study of peace and development, forming the foundation of the interdisciplinary and problem-oriented and emancipatory approach of their main field of study.
In their second year, students study peace and development issues from an interdisciplinary perspective, engaging in advanced studies related to their field, including for instance gender studies. They also develop their capacity to apply peace and development to particular cultural or professional contexts with a focus on regional studies, communication and project work. During the third year, students study the final level in peace and development (G2E) and complete their studies with either an internship, elective classes (30 credits), or a semester of studies abroad.

The Peace and Development Programme provides you with a comprehensive education that enables you to seek employment within the area of development work, international development cooperation and peacebuilding, as well as conflict and conflict resolution. In this interdisciplinary field, you can work in many different types of organisations. For example, former programme students today work with security issues such as demining in Afghanistan, as advocates for human rights in Sweden, as conflict mediators in Brussels, as experts in anti-terrorism with the UN in Kenya, or with art projects related to peacebuilding in Somalia.
Application Requirements:
- Have successfully completed your upper secondary (high school) education (post-16), and
- Be able to demonstrate proficiency in English. The entry requirement for bachelor’s studies in Sweden is to have studied the equivalent of the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
- For students who received their final school grades after 31 December 2009, there is an additional mathematics requirement. You must have successfully completed courses equal to the Swedish courses Mathematics 1a, 1b or 1c.
- Record of completed upper secondary (high school) education.
- Copy of the page in your passport with your personal data and photograph, or a similar identification document.
- You must upload your documentation both in the original language and in an official translation. Accepted languages for translations are Swedish and English.
