Studying master’s in International Affairs at Linnaeus University in Sweden:
The Master in International Affairs (MIA) is a two-year full-time programme with a curriculum that develops the skills and knowledge of international affairs professionals with an interest in contemporary international changes and challenges. The main objective of the programme is to prepare graduates to pursue careers in international organizations, businesses, transnational civil society organizations, or within diplomacy. Programme courses are led by highly merited instructors with research and teaching interests in international and European affairs, international state and human security, international corruption and political economy, foreign policy analysis, human rights and sustainable development, and diplomacy among democracies and dictatorships. MIA also offers the opportunity to complete short- and long-term internships and a major final independent study.

Curriculum:
The programme consists of two years of studies equivalent to 120 credits, of which at least 45 credits are comprised of subject specific courses and 30 credits are comprised of an independent project within the main field of study. The master’s programme is comprised of the following four course categories:
- Subject Specific Courses* (45 credits) in the main field of studies political science with a focus on international affairs
- Theory of Science and Research Methodology (15 credits) on second-cycle level
- Elective Courses (30 credits) in international affairs, social sciences, or the humanities
- Independent Project* (30 credits)

This makes you suitable for advanced political and/or administrative assignments and investigation work, within the public as well as the private sector, nationally and internationally.
Application Requirements:
- You must have been awarded a Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen) from an internationally recognised university.
- Be able to demonstrate proficiency in English. For most master’s level courses and programmes, the requirement is also the equivalent of the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. There are some master’s level courses and programmes where English 5 or English 7 is the requirement.
- You must provide certificates and diplomas of your completed degree(s) from an internationally recognised higher education institution.
- Transcripts of completed courses and grades for each semester included in your degree. If you have had courses credited/transferred from previous studies, you must also submit official transcripts for those courses.
- Copy of the page in your passport with your personal data and photograph, or a similar identification document.
- You must upload your documentation both in the original language and in an official translation. Accepted languages for translations are Swedish and English.
General entry requirements for secondcycle studies and specific entry requirements for this program:
- Bachelor´s degree with a minimum of 90 credits in a main field of study in the social sciences or economics, including a degree project of at least 15 credits, or the equivalent
