Studying master’s in Energy and Management for Sustainable Development at Linnaeus University in Sweden:
Energy production and utilisation systems must be renewable-based and climate-smart, and the whole system must be energy-efficient, resource-efficient and economically efficient. The knowledge that you gain on this programme will be instrumental in understanding and addressing the societal challenges relating to energy and the climate through innovation and business leadership.
Through this programme, you will learn about the following:
- Various environmental paradigms and environmental analysis tools, life cycle analysis, environmental innovations, and environmental accounting, which are important for making environmental decisions.
- How green financing is key to enabling inclusive growth and accelerate the shift to a resource-efficient society and decarbonising of the economy. This to understand how the private sector needs to be engaged in climate-smart technologies, scale-up capabilities, transformative innovations, and green capital, when governmental initiatives are no longer enough to meet the sustainability challenges at hand.
- How the external reporting of energy- and sustainability-related actions extends accountability of companies to the society in which companies operate.
- Various energy policy instruments and innovation strategies, and their impact on investment decisions and public behavior from a sustainability perspective.

Curriculum:
The program starts with a joint semester in technology and science-based courses on the climate situation, innovation systems, and calculation of environmental footprint. Term two consists of an economics block of specially composed courses for technicians, to develop the concepts of company organization and innovation, sustainability management and financing.
Year 2 offer a focus on in-depth knowledge of product imprints, organizations’ energy strategies and development towards sustainable development. The student concludes with an in-depth degree project in the field, preferably in collaboration with companies.

Application Requirements:
- You must have been awarded a Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen) from an internationally recognised university.
- Be able to demonstrate proficiency in English. For most master’s level courses and programmes, the requirement is also the equivalent of the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. There are some master’s level courses and programmes where English 5 or English 7 is the requirement.
- You must provide certificates and diplomas of your completed degree(s) from an internationally recognised higher education institution.
- Transcripts of completed courses and grades for each semester included in your degree. If you have had courses credited/transferred from previous studies, you must also submit official transcripts for those courses.
- Copy of the page in your passport with your personal data and photograph, or a similar identification document.
- You must upload your documentation both in the original language and in an official translation. Accepted languages for translations are Swedish and English.

- Bachelor’s degree in technical subjects or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (technology) or equivalent.
