Studying bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics at Jönköping university in Sweden:
Prosthetists and orthotists analyse individuals’ need of and provide externally applied devices used to compensate for impairments of the structure and function of the neuromuscular and skeletal systems. This requires combining medical, biomechanical and engineering knowledge and skills, in interaction with the device user and other health professions.
The programme integrates these fields with evidence-based practice to increase quality of life for people. The students will integrate and apply theory and practical exercises in the student clinic on campus, along with clinical internships and a major thesis project.

Career opportunity:
An orthopedic engineer works with patient examination, specification, measurement, casting, manufacturing, adaptation and testing of orthopedic technical aids, such as prostheses. Since each patient has their own conditions, it is the task of the orthopedic engineer to develop technical solutions with regard to the individual’s conditions and needs.
Application Requirements:
- General entry requirements include high school diploma and specific demand on physics, chemistry and mathematics.

NOTE: Students in their final year of high school/upper secondary school, can only apply through direct JU admission and only if the following criteria are met: official semester grades for all high school years including the second-to-last semester of the final year can be submitted. The final official diploma/certificate and grades must be submitted before the induction week in August. - Proof of English proficiency.

All new international students are guaranteed accommodation, provided that they apply for accommodation correctly, pay the administrative fee and announce their arrival in time. The guarantee only applies to admitted students at Jönköping University. Family members are not included in the guarantee.

- A one-time charge of 300 SEK is added on the first rent in most accommodation for the provision of a duvet and a pillow.
