University of Latvia Doctoral Programme in Economics and Business “Global Economics and Leadership” is a unique opportunity for industry professionals to obtain a doctorate after three years of studies. The doctoral study program module in English is implemented together with University of Salzburg Business School (SMBS). Studies are held both in Riga (Latvia) and Salzburg (Austria). Doctoral students have close and individual co-operation with the program professors both in acquiring knowledge and in developing and successfully defending the doctoral thesis.

Curriculum:
The study program is divided into three years, during which seminars, research colloquiums, doctoral students’ workshops and training activities take place. As well as doctoral students take part in conferences, write scientific publications and doctoral thesis. In general, doctoral students take part in 11 doctoral seminars in the first two years of the program. Three seminars are held in the semester – two at the University of Salzburg Business School (SMBS) and one at the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Business, Management and Economics. The duration of the seminar in Riga is three days. Study programme conferences, seminars and exams take place in Riga under the guidance of professors at the University of Latvia.
Third study year is dedicated to complete dissertation. This is accompanied by doctoral colloquia. The defence of the dissertation takes place after fulfilment of all requirements and the achievement of all credit points of the University of Latvia, Riga.
Career opportunity:
Graduates of the Doctoral Program in Management Science work as managers of institutions and companies or they themselves form a successful business. Graduates of the program participate and contribute to solving academic problems at national and international level.
