Curriculum:
Curators, and fashion curators in particular, are the interpreters who frame and ‘capture’ moments of the evolution of fashion or of the history of a brand, connecting them with specific aspects of cultural, artistic, social or economic relevance. They are responsible for coordinating and supervising all creative aspects of an event, exhibition or project, within an organizational structure, cultural institution or freelance for private clients. The course will explore the multifaceted history of dress and fashion, offering candidates an in-depth knowledge about the history of museology and the evolution of curatorial practices, from the early private collections to the birth of the most important museums and contemporary vision and styles, with a particular emphasis on dress, textiles and fashion collections and archives. The master’s will analyses the fundamental tools of curatorial work and engage participants with its practical aspects, from the dealing with day-to-day operations including space, location, networking, research, professional collaborations, etc., to the design of a project and the creation of parameters to evaluate the development and the full accomplishment of the expected result. Specific attention will be devoted to heritage-focused exhibitions a crucial asset and added value for the identity of many luxury and fashion brands.
