Application Requirements:
- Completed bachelor/baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a grade point average of 3.00 or higher (on a 4.33 point scale, equivalent to 73% or B) in final two years (or 60 credits) of an undergraduate degree. Normally candidates for the MN program will hold a completed baccalaureate degree in nursing or equivalent.
- Program applicants are required to provide evidence of successful completion of an undergraduate introductory statistics course with a minimum C+ grade taken within 5 years prior to admission to the MN program.
- ENGL 1100 Introduction to University Writing with a minimum C+ grade (or equivalent).
- Evidence of licensure (practicing, non-practicing or temporary) as a Registered Nurse in Canada or international equivalency.
- Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or valid student permit issued by Canada (indicating TRU as a place of study).
- Official copies of all post-secondary transcripts.
- Two letters of reference: including one academic and one professional.
- English language proficiency:
Students who have completed studies in a country where English is not the official language, must also submit English language test scores.

The Homestay Program affords students the opportunity to reside alongside Canadian families, immersing themselves in Canadian culture and traditions. This institution regards post-school interaction with the host family as the optimal method for enhancing English language acquisition. The host family assumes a pivotal role in assisting the student in acclimating to life in Canada, striving to integrate the student into the familial sphere to the greatest extent possible.
In certain instances, multiple international students may be accommodated within each homestay family. When multiple students are placed in a single family, they typically hail from two distinct countries. The family extends accommodation comprising a private, furnished bedroom, three daily meals, and snacks to each student. Students can anticipate commuting approximately 20-45 minutes between their homestay and the TRU campus.
- Apartment: $150 processing non-refundable fee once you apply for homestay
- $500 homestay damage deposit – refundable as long as no damage occurs and proper notice given. Both mentioned fees are due upon the application.
After Graduation
International students possess the privilege of engaging in employment both on-campus and off-campus while pursuing full-time studies. Upon completion of their studies, they become eligible for a full-time work permit. During their academic tenure, they are permitted to work a maximum of 20 hours per week, with the flexibility to work full-time during scheduled breaks.
