Master in Environmental Science and Technology

Studying Master in Environmental Science and Technology at Ghent University:

This master program will train a new generation of professionals to provide sustainable solutions for increasingly complex environmental problems.

 

Necessary information:

• Duration: two years
• Degree awarded by: Ghent university
• Admission criteria: Approved Bachelor’s degree
• Language of instruction: English
• Tuition fee: per semester (payable for the first 2 semesters only): Standard tuition fee (€ 282.10 fixed amount + € 27 per credit) + higher tuition fee (€ 77.30 per credit)
• Tuition fee for 60 credits: € 6540.10

 

Curriculum:

The students will have 120 credits in four semesters:

First semester

• Clean technology: theory and concept
• Environmental legislation
• Environment chemistry and analysis atmospheric process
• Environmental chemistry and analysis: atmospheric processes
• Environmental chemistry and analysis: water, soil and sediment
• Environmental risk assessment

Second semester

• Sustainability and environmental economics
• Multidisciplinary analysis of climate change

Application Requirements:

Each application will be evaluated by a board of admission of the specific program and has to be approved by the Faculty Council and by the Rector’s office.

• Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years with good overall scores (at least a second class or equivalent, preferably higher) from a university or recognized equivalent.
• A legalized copy of your basic diploma and its transcript of records or diploma supplement (detailed information is available on the legalization-page)
• A translation of these documents into Dutch, French, German or English, translated by a sworn translator.
• If you have never studied at a university before, the form “Declaration of access to a university bachelor program in the country where the diploma was awarded for the purpose of access to a bachelor program at Ghent University”: correctly filled in.
• A copy of your passport (for most applicants it must be the international passport, if you are from the EU, the local identity card can also be accepted)
• The diploma supplement or equivalent: this is an overview of all courses taken, with the achieved outcome and the number of teaching periods. If no diploma supplement is issued by your university, you should add the official study program (syllabus) describing the content of the subjects. If a webpage to the official course description is available, this may also be added. If the supplement was added in the educational background, you do not need to upload it a second time.
• If you are a refugee: an original letter stating that you are a refugee
• Proof of Dutch / English proficiency, depending on the program that you are applying for. This document is to be submitted at the latest upon enrolment.
• Enclose any documents that can add value to your application (certificates of program-related courses, letter of motivation, …). If you are applying for a program at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration or the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture it is strongly recommended to also submit a GMAT and/or GRE score.

 

English language requirements:

The native speakers of English or the applicants who completed their previous studies in the English language do not need to present an English language certificate to prove their proficiency. However, other international applicants must have:
